EWPRR Non-Technical Overview and Project Info (pdf)
DownloadEWPRR uses advanced thermal-mechanical extrusion technology to break the sulfur bonds formed during rubber vulcanization, resulting in a devulcanized material known as Tyre-Derived Polymer.
TDP is a sustainable alternative to virgin, natural rubber that is used by rubber manufacturers as input material in the production of new rubber goods like tyres and conveyor belts.
East-West Pilbara Rubber Recycling (EWPRR) is a joint venture addressing the mining sector’s tyre waste by transforming end-of-life Giant Mining Tyres (GMT’s) tyres, currently buried on-country, into reusable rubber using advanced devulcanization technology.
We’re creating a circular economy in the Pilbara, Western Australia, by establishing a green export industry that supports decarbonization and Australia’s waste recovery goals. With devulcanisation of GMT’s, EWPRR will partly displace the need for natural rubber and reduce environmental impact.
